Key Partnerships
Over the years, UVic Global Brigades has developed a host of amazing partnerships with organizations that, time and time again, continue to support our cause. Some of these partnerships are outlined below!
Soap for Hope Canada
Soap for Hope is a local non-for-profit that focuses on providing hygiene kits to shelters, transitional homes, food banks, and low income seniors in communities across Vancouver Island. Their organization believes that no one should have to hope for soap.

UVic Global Brigades and Soap for Hope were introduced in 2018 and since then we have been able to build an amazing partnership.
A large part of our annual fundraising efforts goes towards creating hygiene packs that are distributed for free in the communities to which we travel. Soap for Hope has been an incredible help through their donation of thousands of hygiene products for these kits each year!
We are incredibly thankful for their contributions!
Shelbourne Optical
Shelbourne Optical is an opticians office operating in the Lansdowne area of Victoria, BC. Connie (owner/operator) and her amazing team of optometrists have provided us with the space, knowledge, and equipment we need to be able to test the prescription of all glasses collected for distribution on our Medical Brigades. We would not be able to provide optometric services as successfully without their help!

One of the services that is offered as part of our Medical Brigade is an optician station. Members of the community may come in and have their eyesight tested, and depending on the results they may be given a pair of distance, reading, and/or sunglasses, free of charge!
That means that UVic Global Brigades is responsible for collecting and determining the prescription of hundreds of glasses each year; this is where Shelbourne Optical comes in to help us!
Odd Fellows Victoria
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a fraternal order founded in the early 19th century with the goal of promoting the ethics of reciprocity and charity. With over 600,000 men, women and youths in more than 10,000 lodges spread over 26 countries, it claims to be the largest fraternal order under one head.
In Victoria, they have provide a host of charitable acts to make a significant contribution back to the community. Though somewhat shrouded in secrecy, their acts have not gone unnoticed within the community. Through elected donations, they provide continuing support to the Visual Research Facility and Eyebank, the Canadian Cancer Society, Arthritis Society and many other local charities. In addition to these donations, scholarships and local bursaries are given out annually.

UVIC Global Brigades is proud to have the support of the Odd Fellows, who hosted us during our Global Galas, a fundraising event we host yearly. Odd Fellows is always looking for new brothers and sisters to join the Brotherhood and more information about the organization and recruitment can be found at https://www.ioofbc.org/.
The Princeton Review
One of our more recent partnerships is with The Princeton Review. TPR is an online resource that assists students studying for their SAT, DAT, LSAT, MCAT, and many more exams. They offer self taught and instructor led courses to help improve your score on these entry exams!
Prep 101
Prep 101 offers online prep courses for the MCAT and various university courses. They provide flexible schedules to fit the needs of students and they have a free unlimited repeat policy. Individuals who take their course are given a personalized study plan and a personal coach. Their core values are a focus on students, delivering expertise, and a commitment to quality.
